As a member-owned credit union, we believe it’s important to offer our time, talents and treasure to the communities where our members live and work. This year our staff participated in the following charitable causes:
Teamed-up for “Bowl For Kids’ Sake” to raise more than $1,425 for Big Brothers & Big Sisters
Awarded $500 college scholarships to members Lanie Frericks (Indianola, IA), Sydney Rupp (Atkins, IA) and Abbagail Evans, a current college student at the University of Iowa.
Donated blood on “World Blood Donor Day”
Hosted our 9th Annual Charity Cookout and raised $657.45 for the Olivet Neighborhood Mission in Cedar Rapids
Participated in the “Especially For You” Race Against Breast Cancer
Rang the bell for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign
Held our annual canned food drive collecting food and cash for the Linn Area Food Bank
Metco members collected 177 pounds of items and donated $190 cash for its 2023 Food Drive.
Metco was awarded the CUPAC Fundraising Award at the Iowa Credit Union Convention in September 2023 for raising funds to support the Credit Union Political Action Committee (CUPAC), which is the voice for credit unions on Capitol Hill.
Regan attended the 2023 Kirkwood Kickoff to share with students the benefits of Metco membership.
Congressman Zach Nunn met with Metco CEO, Brad Mertens (pictured right of Nunn), and other Iowa credit union leaders in August 2023 to discuss important issues relating to credit unions and their members.
Metco donated 700 notebooks to students at the Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department's "Back to School Bash" on August 4, 2023.
During the month of July 2023, Metco collected food & household items to benefit Willis Dady Homeless Services.
As part of our annual food drive, Metco and our members provided 92 pounds of food and $155 to the Linn County Food Pantry!
We had a good time ringing the Salvation Army bell on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello and fill the bucket!
