All Metco Credit Union members are invited to attend Metco’s 61st Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 7th at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, 7725 Kirkwood Blvd. SW in Cedar Rapids. The event will begin with breakfast at 9:00 a.m., followed by the business meeting and election, and of course we’ll wrap-up the morning with prize giveaways.

Tickets are available for $5.00 each at the credit union office through Wednesday, April 4th. You can also email us your ticket order at and, once paid for, we’ll hold your tickets at the Annual Meeting.

As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, Metco’s board is comprised of elected members who volunteer their time to represent the entire membership and make decisions on their behalf. Members age 16 and older may vote to fill three positions on the Board of Directors, with each position filling a three-year term. No nominations will be accepted from the floor.

Meet Your 2018 Board Candidates!

Ben Griffin

Ben Griffin has been a member of Metco Credit Union for 8 years. His former boss referred Ben to Metco when he needed a mortgage loan, and Ben has done most of his banking with Metco ever since.

Ben is running for a seat on the Metco board because he and two Metco staff members thought he would make a great board member. “I already serve on the Board of Directors for the Jr. Warrior Baseball organization and felt this was another good opportunity for me,” said Ben. “It has given me a good amount of experience in making positive decisions for a non-profit organization.” Ben also has prior experience as a loan officer at another financial institution, which gave him a good understanding of the lending process and the credit analysis that goes along with it.

Ben currently works as a Lighting Specialist at Van Meter, Inc. He is married to wife, Erin, and they have a son, Brody, who is in 4th grade, as well as a 6-1/2 year old Great Pyrenees dog named Lambeau. The Griffins are big fans of the Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes, but when it comes to baseball they are a bit divided…Brody and Ben prefer the Cubs, while Erin is a White Sox fan. They love to travel together and coach/watch Brody’s activities.
