Purpose

Metco Credit Union is a non-profit financial institution owned and operated by its members.

Membership Eligibility

You may join Metco Credit Union if you or a family member lives or works in Benton, Buchanan, Cedar, Delaware, Iowa, Johnson, Jones or Linn Counties.

Once a member always a member.

History

Over fifty years ago (2/7/57), with a vision, thirty City employees from ten different departments organized the Cedar Rapids Municipal Employees Credit Union.

A few years later (9/28/66), Linn County Employees Credit Union was organized. And on, July 1, 1977, Metco Credit Union was created by a merger of Municipal Employees credit union with Linnco credit union.

November 17, 1980, Metco moved into the new building on 8th Avenue SW. In October of 1990, an addition to this building doubled the size.

That small group of founders, in 1957, has grown to over 3,000 members and over $18 million in assets.
